Immerse yourself in the excitement of aviation in our high-tech simulation experience: the Flight Sim Zone. Discover how airplanes move in three-dimensions with your hands at the controls. Take a virtual flight across the Bay and see the world from the unique perspective of a pilot. Using state-of-the-art computers and software, with multiple large displays and flight controls including yokes, throttles and rudder pedals, the Flight Sim Zone beautifully recreates the experience of flying.
Hours: Saturday & Sunday, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Included with museum admission. Space is limited.
Flight Simulation Programs 2008-2009
Share a treasured experience with your child or explore the secret dream you’ve had your whole life. Discover the thrill of being a pilot! These programs are designed to totally immerse you in the world of aviation using the museum’s newest attraction, the Flight Sim Zone.
Aviation Adventure: Single Session Programs
This intensive 3-hour evening experience mixes aviation investigations with stick-time on our realistic flight simulators. Before the evening is done, you will know how to take off, land and fly a short cross-country flight around the Bay Area. Choose Adult & Child sessions, or Adult Only sessions.
- $30 per Pilot for members ($36 for non-members)
- $10 per Copilot for members ($12 for non-members)
- Share flight time with a Copilot who pays a reduced fee for the program.
- Adult & Child sessions require a Pilot and Copilot (adult/child, pair).
- Adult Copilots are optional for Adult Only sessions.

Aviation Odyssey: Four-Session Courses
By the conclusion of this 12-hour mini-course you will have a pretty good idea of what flying is all about! From learning to read instrument panels to navigating local Bay Area airspace in our realistic flight simulators, you will experience the fun and challenge of piloting. The course concludes with an intense 250 nm cross country flight that you plan and navigate in real time, with your hands on the flight yoke and your feet in the rudder pedals in our Flight Sim Zone!
- $100 per Pilot for members ($120 for non-members)
- $35 per Copilot for members ($42 for non-members)
- Share flight time with a Copilot who pays a reduced fee for the program.
