Enter the Museum’s newest exhibit area with your students to taste the challenge and excitement of flight. Using state-of-the-art flight simulation software, aircraft controls and multi-monitor displays, students work in pairs to master control of a simulated aircraft and complete an age-appropriate mission. Each simulator provides a beautiful re-creation of the experience of flight, realistic control responses, and an extensive database of aircraft and airport locations.
Flight Sim Zone programs are structured activities led by an instructor. Depending on grade level, flight simulations may include:
- Pitch, roll and yaw control in a small aircraft
- Take-offs and landings in fair weather conditions
- Challenging bridge flybys and foul weather landings
- Planned airport-to-airport navigation
- Jet transport flight
- Historic flight re-creation
