Young Eagles:

Actor Harrison Ford speaking for the EAA Aviation Foundation, invites all youths ages 8-17 to enjoy a free flight above the San Francisco Bay Area. Take to the sky as a member of the Young Eagles.

The Young Eagles is a unique way of welcoming young people to the exhilaration and freedom of flight. The program is sponsored by the EAA Aviation Foundation, a non-profit organization, dedicated to providing a motivational aviation experience for the younger generation.

Endorsed by honorary chairman Harrison Ford, the goal of the Young Eagles Program was achieved by flying one million children by the year 2003 - the 100th anniversary of the Wright Brother's flight at Kitty Hawk and the dawn of aviation's second century. The program has been so successful that it has been extended indefinitely.

The Hiller Aviation Museum participates in this exciting program, offering your child the safe and truly unforgettable experience of flying high above the San Francisco Bay Area.

The Young Eagles program:

  • is for children ages 8 - 17,
  • on the third Saturday of each month (see online schedule for updated information),
  • from 11am - 1pm,
  • no pre-registration (Come Early!). Flights may fill up quickly.
  • happens at Hiller Aviation Museum at the San Carlos Airport, and
  • requires a Young Eagles Registration Form signed by your parent or legal guardian.

Each flight takes place in a registered airplane flown by a licensed pilot. Only standard maneuvers are performed and flights are provided free of charge.

After the flight, your child's name will be entered into the world's largest logbook, preserved in time next to other aviation greats like the Wright Brothers and Charles Lindbergh.  With actual flying time under their belt, the younger generation can gain an even greater appreciation for the wonders of flight captured in the permanent collection of the Hiller Aviation Institute's Aviation Museum.

For more information, call the museum at 650-654-0200, or visit the Young Eagles' web site for all the details about this exciting program.
