Fly a drone!

Discover the fun and challenge of drone flight! Observe drone demonstrations, take the controls of a realistic drone simulator, and pilot an actual drone in the Drone Plex flight center during Try and Fly.

Flight

Flight Simulators

In the Flight Sim Zone, take a virtual flight across the Bay and see the world from the unique perspective of a pilot. Real pilots will show you how to control a Cessna 172. 

Invention

Invention Lab

This “mini makers lab” has new hands-on activities for kids, exposing them to STEM in a fun and engaging way. Here they can use the tools of science to explore aviation, aerodynamics, engineering, assembly, and design.

The Hiller Aviation Museum is closed Easter Sunday, Independence Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.
Closures also include select featured and private events.

Hidden gem for little ones. We attended the train show event, small show but so amazing!! Staff is helpful, plenty of parking lots of room for kids to roam and explore safely. Definitely will be back!

Great little specialty museum and gift shop acclimated to all ages. Lots of aviation history to see, and many activities for all ages. Def recommend for anyone interested in aviation.

There is a lot here. I think I went during a school camp because along with lots of airplane artifacts there were lots of kids. Honestly this is a great museum for kids, lots of places to interact and also some big open spaces for kids to sprawl out. Some pretty nifty planes too. A 747 section you can explore and an albatross HU16 which happens to be my favorite plane. It's not a huge museum, but certainly fun to stop by and wander for a bit.

You entered through the gift shop that is a museum in itself; Hiller manufactured helicopters here, but one out of business decades ago End of since acquired many cool aviation artifacts, including flight simulators. They also have education program for youth, and I think daycamp during the summer. They are always busy.

My son absolutely loves this museum. He loves that he can get in the cockpit of some of the planes, the simulators, the engaging activities. The realistic simulator upstairs is his very favorite. The museum is well kept, the employees and volunteers are kind and helpful, and the events they calendar and coordinate are sometimes educational but overall fun.

Cool exhibits of several planes and vehicles. They have details of the history of airplanes from the very first ones to the modern aircraft. They also provide many interactive activities and stimulations for kids and adults to experience.

Our family spent like 4 hours in the museum even though I first thought it was a small museum considering the size, compared with other museums I have visited. We had a fun time in this place.

I was surprised. I recently took visiting family members to local museums and Hiller was the last stop. Hiller turned out to be well worth the visit. Displays include aviation history from the earliest days of winged flight with a local emphasis as well as a wide range of helicopters and more modern vertical takeoff prototypes. You can even try your hand at simulated flight around the Bay Area. I was OK flying. Landing....not so much.

It's our favorite museum at this point. All of the docents are cool, the events are awesome and the exhibits are top notch with lots of simulators and cockpits to climb into. My 3 year old loves searching for Oliver.

Beautiful layout in the gallery, many interesting aircraft with detailed plaques. Lots of opportunities for exciting interaction like simulators and more (try out Drone Plex). Plus, all the volunteers and employees were super helpful and informative. I really enjoy coming here and I very much recommend. Also, the airport right outside the museum really adds to the experience.

This is a great place to explore with your family. The staff are welcoming and friendly, the exhibits are interesting and varied. We all had a great afternoon, there is something for everyone. Our group ranged in ages from 4 to 63. This was our second annual visit and we enjoyed it both times.

The Hiller Museum is great! Loved seeing so many helicopters! And of course the 747 cockpit is amazing. Watching planes take off next door was really cool, and I liked the real time flight tracker way more than I was expecting. Definitely worth checking out.

Friendly staff, cool museum. Love the flight simulators. No need to buy tickets ahead. The 747 out the back is kinda cool. You can go in the cockpit and see all the buttons and switches. You can land a 747 at sfo in a simulator. Overall, very good museum and worth the entry fee

When you think a visit to the museum is boring, you might want to reconsider this one. Hiller aviation museum is entertaining and quite fun for both kids and adults. They have lots of planes from the early days, flight stimulator, a real plane for everyone to roam around, and a play area for kiddos to get creative. They even have summer camps for kiddos and a spot to celebrate birthdays!

If you’re still on the fence, a visit to the gift shop (free entrance), might change your minds 😉

Parking is spacious and you can’t miss this one because it’s next to the freeway.

Such a neat little spot, packed with full-sized and scale model aircraft. There's a few interactive activities, too--the flight simulators cost an extra $5 for non-members. I look forward to going back, especially since we ran out of time to finish exploring the gift shop!

Cute museum with tons of old aircraft displays. Great for kids and educational purposes for personal aviation fans. Can probably go through the exhibit in 20 mins. Can host private events too. Plenty of parking.
