Aero Engineer Camp Details

Create and test a world of aviation inventions with Aero Engineer!

Aero Engineers participants leap into the Engineering Design Process and discover how makers the world over nurture new ideas and make them take flight.  Meet a series of design challenges, building gliders, rockets, helicopters and more and testing each vehicle.

Investigate the technologies used in modern aerospace engineering, including simple machines, electricity, and more.  Experiment with robotics and 3D printers.

Complete introductory test pilot training in the flight simulator lab, learning the procedures used by pilots to explore the flight of brand-new aircraft designs, experiment with the science of aerodynamics and much more in a thrilling hands-on adventure in aerial science and engineering.

Aero Engineers campers participate in a Friday field trip to the USS Hornet Museum in Alameda, CA. (No field trip or camp on July 4th due to holiday)

Field Trip Information - USS Hornet

Campers from the Extreme Flight camp and the Aero Engineers camp participate on a Friday field trip to the USS Hornet Museum in Alameda, CA. (No field trip or camp on July 4th due to holiday)

Campers should check in by the regular 9 AM start time at the Hiller Aviation Museum on Friday morning. They will depart the Hiller Aviation Museum via bus promptly at 9:30 AM and return to the Hiller Aviation Museum by 2 PM on Friday afternoon.

Camp activities will continue at the museum until the usual 4 PM pick-up time.

Parents are welcome to attend the USS Hornet, providing their own transportation and admission fees. See field trip information letter for more details.

Note: February 17-21 Extreme Flight and June 30-July 3 Aero Engineer do not take a field trip.

Camp Daily Schedule

Camps meet full day, 9 AM – 4 PM.

Regular camp check-in begins at 8:30 AM, and check-out ends at 4:15 PM.

Extended PM hours are available for select sessions. PM Care end times and fees vary by session. See registration page for details.

The camp day is split into 4 activity sessions with a recess/meal break in between each session. Children will be assigned to discrete teams and remain with their team and the same instructional staff for the entire session.
